These businesses are highly regulated and they are firms providing investment advice, interstate-trucking companies, businesses involved with meat preparation, and those that sell heavily regulated products such as firearms.

There are 5 types of permits that a business can obtain:

• Seller's Permit - If your business is buying merchandise for resale in a state that collects sales tax, you will need seller's permit.
• Building Permit - if you are planning to remodel your commercial space you must obtain a building permit to put any structures to make sure that it's up to the building codes.
• Health Permit - if your business services food you must obtain a health permit to ensure that all foods that are being service are up to code.
• Zoning Permit - Don't sign a lease without first checking that the space is properly zoned for the use you have in mind. Some cities require that all new businesses get a zoning compliance permit before they open.
• Home Occupation Permit - If your business is home-based, many local governments require that you obtain a home occupation permit.
